Learner Outcome:

Research material to be used in a module on conflict resolution
Design a video to illustrate the module's main points using existing footage
Produce a two to three-minute Video to show conflict resolution

8.4.1 Weeks 2-4 Project: Create an Instructional Video, Part 2

Creating a rough cut video edit for peer review and feedback. The project design simulates real-world practice into practical use.

Learner Outcome:
Produce footage for a useful and engaging instructional video
Demonstrate knowledge of camera angles and shot coverage
Assembly process for preliminary edits for critical review

Rough Cut

Review storyboard created and make necessary revisions.
 Double-check lighting and composition
Shoot multiple takes for each frame.
Adding basic slide tiles to the beginning of the Video.

 TASK 2: Peer Review

Review the works of peers and provide feedback while answering these questions.

A) Has the storyboard been accurately translated to the Video? Are there gaps that need to fill? Are there other clips in the Dropbox folder that could be used to make the instructional Video more effective?

B) Have the clips been organized in a logical sequence that makes the instructions clear and easy to follow? What could be improved? Are there better clips in the Dropbox folder?

C) Do the camera angles and shots give a good picture of what will show? If there is something unclear, suggest how it could be improved, including reevaluating clips from the Dropbox folder or creating additional video clips, if necessary.

D)What could additional improvements can you make?

8.4.3 Week 4 Discussion: Compression

I understand the interworkings of video compression and its impact on file size management.

Learner Outcome:
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the subject of video compression
Articulate how compression has an impact on video quality and file size
Participate in a community of practice by sharing concepts in writing

TASK 1: Initial Post

Read the following to learn about video compression.
Answer the following prompts. Include each question in bold before each of your responses. Your post for each response should be two to three paragraphs in length.

In creating instructional videos for online delivery, is the technical quality of the Video more critical than the file size, or is file size more important than the professional quality of the Video?
What factors must you consider when compressing a video to produce the best possible output?

o   Video Compression Basics, by Tommy Penner
o  5 Ways to Compress Video, by wikiHow
o  How Does Video Compression Work? by Chris Pirillo
o   Video Compression Techniques, by Videocompression101

TASK 2: Response Post

Read the initial post by classmates and respond by answering the following questions.

Concerning the technical quality versus the file size of instructional videos for online delivery, was the evidence provided by your classmates convincing? Explain.
Do you agree with the support provided by your classmates? Why or why not?
What can you add to further the discussion based on your own experiences?
What resources can you add to this conversation to help further the understanding of video compression?

TASK 3: Reflection Post

Reflect—How did your attitude, logic and behaviors influence your performance or contribution? What worked? What didn’t?
Inquire—What concepts/techniques do you still need to learn about to gain mastery of the material? How do you know?
Suggest—What could you have done differently to improve your performance or contribution?
Elevate—How will you approach similar situations in the future? How does this experience inform your professional objectives?
